jungle :]
Fun tune :) consider trying out multiband compression on your breaks to make them fit together better in sound and especially volume. The volume of the drums varies pretty wildly moment to moment and I hear some feel like they're trying to "compete" with the other layered breaks.
hearing this compared to your last dnb songs here and there's a huge improvement in mixing and clarity :) nice breaks too. BTW this style of music is called jungle, breakcore is a different genre with jungle, hardcore, and sometimes punk influence. GL on your future songs :)))))
Thank you! :D I see a lot of conflicting stuff online about which genre this kind of music is so I wasn't really sure, but i'll keep that in mind for future projects!
interesting dnb track :) consider filtering out the 16-20khz range because it's pretty loud and can be painful to some on certain speakers/headphones. The pads sound good but they're kinda *too* glassy because of that. Bass sounds cool but the clipping really drowns out some other instruments. Not a big fan of snares that sound like that but that's personal preference. I reaaaally like the middle part and after. welcome to ng :)
Thank you for taking time to listen to the track and making this review, you made many good points here! I was worried that the snare is too annoying and static, but liked the intensity it adds. I can work more on making snares more alive. As for clipping, it was intentional to give the first half of the track a broken feel. What I didn't consider was that high frequencies might be too harsh on certain music devices. I think that the frequency range 16k - 20k, however, is already filtered out by the mp3 compression. Again, thank you for the feedback :D
i wanna eat this mix
corporate said we could only do 2kbps bit rate 💔
Sick, I suggest making the break between 0:22 and 1:27 a few db louder and maybe bring the volume of the guitar notes closer together, the notes are much quieter at the beginning of each phrase making them hard to hear
As far as the break goes, I agree with you. It probably could have been somewhat louder. The guitar was intentional though, because I wanted to put some more emphasis on the notes towards the end of each phrase
Nice and groovy tune with good sound selection, I think the mix could be improved with more stereo width on the pads and mixing the breaks louder with more consistent volume between them. Overall the mix could be glued together better, especially the leads at 1:09, multiband compression is your friend. Good work :)
Thanks
One of the drum breaks has more transients and attack than the Amen break, but overall, both have a similar perceived average loudness
I'm listening on crappy laptop headphones now, and the Amen Break does indeed seem quieter.
I have to fix this before I release the album.. thanks again
EDIT:
I fixed it a bit, I did a reupload... now it's better ;)
real dark evil techstep thats how its done
this scratches my brain very nice :>
